Artistic Floral Photography
Join Jackie as she takes you on a journey through her digital garden where she will share a variety of techniques that she uses to bring out the character in floral subjects. She will show examples and discuss how to reflect the personality of a flower through a variety of techniques, such as selective focus, shoot-throughs, abstracts, multiples, textures and more. Hear her rationale as it applies to decisions in the field pertaining to selection of the subject, background, approach, composition, lighting, exposure, and depth of field and leave inspired to pick up your camera and follow your own creative voice.
Jackie will also have flower photography classes in the Botanical garden on January 15th and 16th and a Post processing course on January 17th. Look for a future sign up email.

(yes, we are meeting in January, not February!)
Hello Everyone!
Thank you for registering for our workshop next week on artistic floral photography. This email contains information on locations, gear, and other tips on how to prepare. I hope you will be able to make the Naples Camera Club meeting on Tuesday evening, Jan 14th, so we can meet each other and you can get an overview of my work and approaches.
In the garden, I will point out ideal candidates for various techniques, as well as what doesn't work and why. I will help you "see" and learn how to approach your subjects, how to use your equipment for the most optimal results, how to marry subjects with backgrounds, and how to shoot textures.
On Friday, we will meet in the classroom at the Naples Hilton where I will demonstrate post-processing techniques in Adobe Lightroom (analogous to Adobe Camera Raw). In the post-processing stage, we will talk about what features to highlight - light, colors, shapes, etc - using Lightroom masking features extensively. I will also demonstrate how to apply textures in Photoshop.I use Adobe Lightroom (14.1.1 or latest version) and Photoshop for editing.

Day in the Garden:
We will be spending the first day, Wed the 15th or Thurs the16th, in the Naples Botanical Garden. We will meet in the Orchid Garden at 9:15am. If you're a member, you can arrive as early as 8am, but we won't begin until 9:15. it's forecast to be a bit chilly both days so please dress accordingly. We will have a coffee break in the morning and again for lunch, returning at a time TBD ( would like to spend 2 more hours in garden as long as weather permits) for afternoon shoot.
